Dear Family,
Between my short-term memory and my long-term memory and my failing eyesight I write this epistle.
I suppose the highlight of the past two months would be Sisters' week. Emily got us a nice Swiss looking condo in Midway to have our party. Thanks to Lucy we had a member of the opposite sex with us named Garrett. He is so lovable …we all enjoyed our stay that much more. During our get together we went out to eat twice, once in Midway and once in Park City. We played games like card Monopoly and Scramble Slam...also Phase 10 at several Intervals. It was enjoyable to go to church in Midway the one Sunday we were there. Several walks were taken…scenery was like being In Switzerland. Weather was all in our favor.
Lucy came early so she could put up grape juice. Unfortunately some deer caused the amount of grapes to have dwindled, so the amount was less than hoped for…but I appreciate the bottles that were done.
At the end of our time we were able to visit with Robin at her home and also at the little restaurant where her son works and where we ate.
Janet and Marty took me out to visit with Wendy and family at their new home in Daybreak. It was fun to see how the homes out there looked like the picture I have of the House that the Jacobsens lived in around the early 1900's in Chicago.
I have been invited to spend Thanksgiving with the Hill family and am looking forward to it.
Heather took me out to Saratoga Springs to witness the baptism of Katelyn Bosley. It was good to see many of the families of Rick & Reba's posterity. Nicole gave a good talk on baptism. I was very impressed with Jeff Troutman Jr. What a fine young man he is…also the hugs from the great grandchildren.
For my Birthday the Relief society and my visiting teachers took me to Lunch and presented me with an enlarged print copy of the lesson manual.
Annemarie and I went out to lunch. She is the Family History Consultant in her ward and is frustrated. So we compared some notes.
Well I’ve had my third shot for the eyes and can't see any improvement. Grateful for Dorothy who has taken me to all my appointments as well as to the Bountiful Temple…getting cards done. Rick Jr. called . Good to hear from him. He was heading for Washington DC on a flight
Thanks again for the calls Thanks for Rick's kindness to me. For the food. Nice for Heather to be here to give piano lessons to Mitchell and Alyssa. For John and Emily’s help in picking up groceries.
Leaves are all down, we’ve had our first snow so season is changing. It was fun to see the Andersons clever costumes for Halloween.

Marcus has been out on his mission for four months and Penny has just four months left. Crazy! They are both enjoying their missions and are doing well. They have investigators who are very interested and hope to be baptized soon. They love getting letters the snail-mail way, so take a moment to write or send a Christmas card. Alan and I are taking a weekly CES class held in our stake on Doctrine & Covenants and Church History. As one of his high council assignments, he unlocks the doors and sets things up for it each week. I assist by playing the organ. We really enjoy these classes.
One of Alan’s newer responsibilities is over missionary work in the stake. He’s done this for just a few weeks, but I notice him really enjoying it as he becomes more involved with the spirit of missionary work.
Ariane went to lots of play rehearsals before and after school during September and October until the musical, “Guys and Dolls” was performed last weekend at Copper Hills High School. She was in more than half of the scenes (female ensemble). She played her part very well and had fun doing it. I’m glad to have her home right after school again (keeps me company), and she’s glad to have a little more time to sleep.
I was also more involved with the play this year because I volunteered to do a few things during the musical, like sell concessions, etc. After that first parents meeting, I soon found myself as a member of the school’s performing arts board. I guess I should be involved in some way since I haven’t done much volunteering in behalf of my children since they left elementary (I used to volunteer to help out a lot when they were that age), and Ariane is the last one in her last year of school. I’m missing that chapter in my life already! But at the same time I’m enjoying the new chapter that is unfolding, that of Grandparenthood! Thank you Jason and Becky for making it possible!!
During UEA when the kids were out of school, Alan took two days off work so we could have a family mini-vacation. Five of us went to Aspen Grove to their sponsored “Family Weekend Get-Away.” We enjoyed hiking and playing lots of outdoor and indoor games together, plus the weather was perfect.
As soon as we got back from that, I left for a few more days for a “sisters get-away” with Lucy, Emily, Priscilla, Jennifer, and Mom. Emily was able to make arrangements for us to stay in a nice place in Midway. Again the weather was perfect. We felt like we were in Europe with the Swiss flavor of the area. We enjoyed going for walks, eating out, shopping, and playing games together. I’m glad we have continued this tradition.
I’m so thankful for all of you and feel very blessed to be part of this wonderful Lindgren family clan. I’m thankful for our rich heritage and a wonderful mother who taught me about them and continues to tell me stories about them. I love you all. May you have a wonderful and delicious Thanksgiving.

Hello, family! Happy Holidays! I'm getting excited to decorate MY HOUSE for Christmas! As soon as we're through with Thanksgiving, of course... I don't even remember what I have packed away anymore. Hopefully I'll be able to get rid of a few things as I go through the boxes of stuff I've accumulated over the last several years. (rather than save forgotten treasures, like I did with several boxes I was planning to 'clean out' when I moved in...) There hasn't been a big snowstorm, yet, but I'm thinking a snowblower may be a good investment to help clear the sidewalks that came with the house... It will also be interesting to see what kind of bills I have as it gets colder. Life is good. I'm still the librarian/math teacher/reading teacher at school, teach piano lessons for Mitchell and Alyssa once a week, sing with the Sterling Singers on Sunday evenings. (Christmas concert at the end of November, and a concert in the Salt Lake Tabernacle in March! cool) I haven't been dancing much lately - living in Pleasant Grove has moved me further away from the places I used to go. Thanks to the economy troubles, there haven't been as many opportunities, either. As a dancing friend pointed out, I need to put it back at the top of my priority list... It has been nice to have my brother, Daniel, living with me. We don't see a lot of each other - I work all day, he works till at least 8 most evenings. But, it's good to know I'm not alone. I see him more now than I used to! I still have an empty (except for several empty boxes) bedroom if a cousin wants to move in for a while... (reasonable rent!) Happy Thanksgiving to all of you. I am very Thankful to be part of the Lindgren clan, and to claim you as family.

Hey Lindgrens!
Ammon here reporting from a damp and cold November in Seattle. Things are going well for the Gilberts and it has been quite the busy last couple of months. Finn and Harper are doing great--Harper is getting more and more teeth everyday it seems like and she's about 2 seconds away from walking around on both feet. She's taken up to four steps but still prefers the method of crawling for her main form of transportation (so much faster than stepping at this point). She also LOVES to eat and will pretty each eat and try everything and anything you put in front of her. Her hair is growing in super curly and much darker than her brother's, it's just a matter of time before she's in pigtails, I'm sure of it.
Finn is back in preschool and enjoying every second of it. He's still into trains and firetrucks and superheroes and watching cartoons. He's also getting pretty savy on his Skoot Bike (a bike without a pedals), so much so that we have to run after him just to keep up. He's really good and talking and communicating what he wants and what he doesn't want and he loves to talk about his day and all the fun adventures he's had at the dinnertable.
At the beginning of October we piled the kids in the car, picked up Mom and Steve at the airport, and headed down to Great Wolf Lodge, a waterpark resort of sorts for kiddos. We went to celebrate Finn's 3rd birthday and boy did we have fun! Along with fun in the water, our room was like a giant wolf cave and there was even an arcade which sucked both his parents and him in. Even Harper had fun playing in the water in the kiddie-pool area. To top it off, we had dinner at the Rainforest Cafe and Finn got an exploding volcano cake--he was in heaven.
October also consisted of pumpkin patches (we hit up the same one Angela and I got engaged at) and a Halloween party with Finn and his preschool buddies and their families. Angela went all out and made our house the coolest Halloween-savy house in the neighborhood, busting out all kinds of crafty Halloween fun for all to enjoy. We then went Trick or Treating and Finn came away with more candy than any of his other friends. Don't know how, but the kid has a knack for scoring candy. Harper also go in the candy spirit and ate her way through the wrappers of a Reeses Pieces Peanut Butter Cup, a Heath bar, and chowed down about 5 or 6 candy corns--all while we weren't looking. What can I say--she LOVES to eat!
For Halloween, Finn was Buzz Lightyear... and a Zoo Keeper... and Wonder Woman... and Peter Pan. The kid loves dressing up so he had a new costume for all the various Halloween events throughout the month. His favorite was Wonder Woman though--just don't call him Super Girl. He'll be quick to correct you. Harper was also Wonder Woman--and Tinkerbell. Halloween night I was Captain Hook, Finn was Peter Pan, Harper was Tinkerbell, and Angela was Wendy. We had quite the theme going for ourselves this year.
I'm "gowing" a mustache for Movember, it's a charity thing, but also just an excuse to grow a mustache. This year I thought I'd be old enough to actually grow facial hair but as we're 2 weeks into it and it's slightly more than fuzz, I'm thinking it's not gonna really happen. Maybe once I hit 30....
Work is going great for me, I really dig working at Microsoft--except for the commute, especially now that it gets dark by 5 o'clock. But I enjoy what I do now so I can't really complain.
We can't wait for the holiday season to kick-off--it's gonna be a busy next couple of months but we'll have fun (as usual). Looking forward to hearing your stories and adventures!

Hello Lindgrens!
Hope you are all well. We've had a busy past month of traveling and moving.
We had a fun trip across the US. We drove with four month old Sammy and visited friends and family throughout the U. S. Sam was really good in the car but we did take a lot of breaks. He would wear out at the end of the day. We tried to keep car time at around 5 hours for most days. We ended up stopping in Dayton Ohio, Springfield Illinois, St Louis Missouri, Nauvoo Illinois, Independence Missouri, Abilene, Kansas, and Denver, CO on out way to Colorado Springs.
One cool thing is we got to spend time with Misty and her cute kids in Nauvoo. I posted on Facebook that we were in Nauvoo and Mike made sure we connected. Misty gave us insider tours of Carthage, the Nauvoo cemetery, and Nauvoo. I (Ryan) had only met Misty once before she was a Lindgren at a family Christmas party and we enjoyed getting to know her family. We are grateful for her hospitality. Its too bad Rick was off flying around the country or we could have spent time with him too. She cooked us meals and even took care of Sam while we went to the Nauvoo Temple.
I accepted a job working as a Social Worker with active duty US Army service members with psych and physical difficulties at Fort Carson. We had all of our stuff shipped separately from North Carolina, so we didn't have to drag extra stuff as we moved our little family to Colorado Springs, Colorado. We have been out here for about three weeks now and are living in a townhouse near base. It's an adjustment working for the Army but my coworkers are nice and I think I will like what I am able to do counseling the soldiers. The altitude and temperature is the biggest adjustment. We are using the heat, humidifiers, lotion and chap stick. I think we are going to like it here.

Time keeps moving too fast. Already it is cold. Jim has cut some wood and our wood stove is keeping us warm. I have a bunch of carrots in the garden.
I obtained State of Arizona substitute teacher certificate just in case I would need it. I used it Friday when a substitute at our school had an emergency and had to leave. So I taught 5th graders for two hours. It was great because the teacher has the class so organized. The students said, “I can’t believe we have a substitute for our substitute.” We had silent reading, then science when I got to teach about cell membranes, and then extra Friday recess for those who earned it. In my classroom the regular teacher left to teach 1st grade, a position that opened when a teacher left the state. So now we have a long term substitute. Special Ed teacher position is hard to stay filled here.
Hyrum developed a toothache and turns out he needs a root canal. Orthodontics moved his teeth and the root of #7 bent at the top and pinched of the nerve that started to decay and cause an infection. Bryan will be getting braces and Isaiah broke his glasses and needs new ones.
Jim accompanied the kindergarten field trip to the dairy. He was responsible for Riley, Juan and our neighbor Randy.
I was sustained as Stake Primary President in stake conference today. I have lots of people to get to know. We already had a stake leadership meeting earlier this month. It went well.

Hi Lingos,
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. We are finally living in Utah and are thrilled to be home. It's so nice to have family nearby. We love our neighborhood. Living within walking distance to school, church, the temple, and shopping has been so nice (although having a Target so close is breaking my budget!). It's a very active community with miles and miles of paths for biking, running, roller blading, and walking. I went to DI and bought all my kids roller blades for 5 bucks and we've been having a great time! There's a beautiful lake to go boating, and we keep discovering all sorts of parks. We love it!
Uprooting our family from the South and moving across the country was definitely daring, but we feel like it was the right thing and the right time for our family. We enjoyed stopping in Nauvoo on the drive out and seeing the historical sites. Our kids have made friends quickly at school. My kids are in year-round school, so they had most of October off. We filled our time going on mini field trips with my mom. We visited Sweet's Candy Factory, Thanksgiving Point, candy shop in Alpine, Cabela's, visited a rare coin store, aquarium, Gateway children's museum, etc. My kids really enjoyed visiting Grandma and picking grapes, apples, plums, and raspberries. Lucy taught us how to make grape juice and applesauce, while Grandma made a plum kuchen.
Emilie is about to turn 12 and enter the Young Women's program. I'm so excited for her--I loved YW. Elisabeth had a big birthday party where the girls decorated cakes and did manicures. She and Alexander are signed up for the Junior Jazz basketball program. They're also going to take ice skating lessons. They're very excited about the snow, although I have not missed the snow one bit these past 13 years in Georgia. Benjamin is busy collecting pennies on the ground to put in his penguin purse. He loves riding his bike and I'm glad to have him as my side kick. Justin is doing well and is in India this week on business. With this uncertain economy and his company's restructuring, we are very thankful he still has his job, and that they didn't mind us moving.

Dear Family,
Finn turned three on his birthday early in October -- we spent the night at the Great Wolf Lodge, famous for its indoor water park. Finn was so happy to get his Batman Cave that was on his "wish list," along with another superhero, Spiderman. He loved playing in the water at the water park -- and so did Harper. He dressed up as a fireman since the Lodge was in Halloween mode. It was a fun celebration.
The following week I met up with my sisters and mom in Midway and enjoyed a few days of togetherness and silliness -- we made some delicious meals (shredded pork burritos) and shared healthy tips for longevity. And I learned a new game -- Monopoly Deal.
The Friday before Halloween I dressed up as a pumpkin, and wore my costume to work. On Halloween we ate at Claim Jumpers (for my traditional birthday that comes every year on this day) and came home in time to catch most of the World Series (in which the San Francisco Giants won!) and to treat the trick or treators.
On October 1 our law firm merged with another firm -- and just when you'd think we were big enough, we're going to get even bigger with another merger on January 1. We'll then have 17 offices all over the world and our new name will be Kilpatrick Townsend Stockton, with over 650 attorneys (headquartered in Atlanta, GA). We'll be getting new computers, phones, and will be learning a whole new document management system, etc. I'll be learning all kinds of new stuff. Our small Oakland branch does construction litigation. So the little family law firm that I've worked at for 19 years is gone...kinda sad.
This weekend we put in a new garage door opener -- that is, Steve did, with my assistance. Just one more thing to repair...
Wishing a very special Happy 30th Birthday to my little boy who is going to be 30 on the 30th of this month!! Happy Birthday Ammon!

Hi Lindgrenites!
It's been a busy last few weeks of summer for the Gilberts in Seattle. Let's see, July was busy... Ammon went to San Diego for the Comic-Con for the 3rd year in a row with Grandma Jen coming over to the Gilbert household to help Angela out with the kiddos. The Con was enjoyable as always and Finn and Harper liked having their Grandma around for a few days. Then August hit and started with tragedy as Grandma Rose, who occupied our basement apartment, passed away due to complications of pneumonia. She was 95 and lived a long, good life, but we were still sad to see her go. A few weeks later Angela was laid off from her job due to the company changing their hours of operations and cutting all the hours Angela is available to work. Super lame, but we saw it coming a mile away. So now... Angela is a stay-at-home Mom and is doing a fantastic job so far.
Let's see, what else... We went camping for the first time as a family at Mount St. Helens. Lucky for us, the volcano didn't erupt while we were there. The kids had a blast camping and we were ready to go again immediately afterwards. Too bad we decided that camping was a fun thing for the family to do the last weekend of summer, but what can you do? We also hit up Bigfoot Country while we were there and learned that there are more sightings of Sasquatch in and around the Mount St. Helens area than anywhere else in the country. However, we didn't see him near our camp. Bummer.
Harper is a crawling machine and could be walking at any moment. By crawling, I mean she does this Gorilla walk where she 'walks' using her hands and feet. She gets around really fast that way, and since she's discovered the art of crawling, she's been on the move ever since. She also loves to EAT. Paper, cardboard, baby food, milk, ice cream, whatever... if it's within her sights, she wants to eat it. She's a little crazy when it comes to having a ravenous side, but that's ok. Better to love to eat than to not, right?
Finn is getting excited for his pre-school class to start this year so he can hang out with all of his friends. That said, he's pretty sad his best friend is moving to Boise at the end of the month. Actually, we're all pretty bummed out about that one. I guess there's more incentive to visit Boise now, huh? Finn also loves jumping off couches (or couch to couch), playing with cars and trains, going to Target, and getting toilets stuck around his head. True story. He decided to wear a port-a-pottie toilet as a necklace one day and then we couldn't get it off. Because it pinched his ears, he didn't want it off either, so for almost a full day and a half, he had this toilet on his head. The next day he decided he wanted it off though, and we cut it off with giant gardening sheers. It was pretty darn funny.
Welp, that's it for us! Finn turns 3 next month, which we're pretty excited about, as this year we're taking the festivities to Great Wolf Lodge, which is a water slide park (among other fun things).

Hi everyone!
So much has been going on since the last Lingo that I am overwhelmed. Most of you have heard that I have macular degeneration. This has caused me some stress and adjustment of my life style. Especially not being able to see print and numbers and genealogy. I've had the cataract removed from my left eye... but was unable to see... tests were taken and discovery made. I am not able to drive. I'm going through some treatments, three total, a month apart. I've had the first one. Next is Sept. 15. It's supposed to keep the blindness at bay. Well so much for that.
It was good to see many of you at the reunion. I enjoyed visiting with my brother and Gerda. I was able to stay at a motel not far from the reunion site located near the Manti temple. I was grateful for Priscilla who stayed with me two weeks after the diagnosis helping me with eyedrops, etc. and being good company as well as Brian and Isaiah. Lucy came a week end later and helped out. Dorothy has been taking me to the eye clinic. Janet and I went to see Pirates of Penzance at the Hale Theatre. Marty and Janet took me to Brigham High School where a dance program was held including Cloggers America. Ryan and Cheyney and Samuel came for a visit. It was so nice to hold Samuel. I was privileged to be at the blessing at Marty and Janet's. A welcome visit took place when Rick Jr., Misty, Heidie came along with the little ones. Wonderful that Wendy and Justin and family are back in the valley... It was good to have them visit and hear all their good news.
John Anderson came at the first treatment... He knew of Dr. Brockbank, having gone to school with his brother. Grateful to have Emily nearby who often calls to see if I need groceries. Our Relief Society's sisters go to a temple once a month to do iniatories. Iwent with them and got some of ours done.
Always appreciate Rick who is so kind and helpful with finances and things that I need taking care of. My neighbors take me to church now that I don't drive. So when Lucy calls I have plenty tender mercies. Jennifer has been calling me often and we discuss the problems of the world and try to fix them.
I am grateful that there is no pain with the eyes. Things could be worse... and I know it...

Dear Family,
It sure was nice seeing many of you at the Family Reunion in Manti. I enjoyed bocce ball with mom, cooling off with water balloons and in the pool, playing board games, sitting around the table at night talking... And discussions about our next reunion next year in a cooler place -- Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
After the reunion I spend a few days in Seattle with Ammon and family -- I just get the biggest kick out of talking with Finn whose vocabulary grows every day. And Harper is such a smiler. I love being a grandma!
Work has been rather stressful after months of talk of our company being acquired by another -- official October 1. Hopefully my job will continue with the new company...we shall see.
I've been removing the wallpaper borders in Stephanie's bedroom and bathroom -- the old 1990s style is finally leaving our house. Next we'll continue the project of painting. We just finished her bathroom a couple of weeks ago and will now do her bedroom and our master bathroom. Have I told you how hard painting can be -- so much detail work and hard on my poor little body...

Dear Family,
Wow, I can’t believe summer is pretty much over already. Our kids have been back in school since August 23rd. Casey is a junior at Brighton High, and is looking forward to the upcoming Homecoming dance on Sept. 25th. He’s going with at least five other guys and their dates, so they have been busy planning ….the basically… all-day date. So far he’s decided not to play lacrosse this year, but is looking forward to a good snowboarding season!
Our other three: Mitch (6th) Alyssa (2nd) and Travis (K) are all going to Canyon View. So, even though we have to commute a bit right now…at least they’re all at the same place. I just wish Kindergarten was all day. It would make our lives a little easier. But, that’s okay, I don’t want to wish him bigger yet. Travis does love school, and has one of our favorite teachers...so he’s in good hands.
We had a great time at our family reunion in Manti, and enjoyed our extended visit with Priscilla, Bryan, and Isaiah over at Mom’s. I also loved going to Aunt Pearl’s 90th birthday party to see long lost Pettey cousins and their families. I didn’t get to stay as long as I wanted to, but added several more relatives to my Facebook friends. I also went to see Robin with Mom and Priscilla ….the following week, and Alyssa hit the jack-pot, coming away with a new Barbie, Barbie car, and apartment! So generous….it was fun to see her again.
Other summer happenings: went to the free family picnic part of my 25 year high school reunion and caught up with Kim Johnson and her family…who I haven’t seen in awhile. I met up with Marty, Janet, Ryan, Cheyney and new baby Sam while they were here in August visiting. We all grabbed Café Rio and went to the park. It was fun getting to know Cheyney …since I hadn’t even met her yet. Mitch attended his first scout camp. It was a week long at Bear Lake…and he did great. John was able to go for one of the nights. Had a week long family reunion with John’s side of the family up in Park City. We spent a day at the Olympic park and rode the zip lines and the alpine slide. My 86y/o mother-in-law even went of the Extreme Zip…..(which I chickened out on) and loved every minute of it. Last weekend we took her up to Midway and stayed there…attending Swiss Days, and the National Sheepdog trials at Soldier Hollow. The kids got to see Lamb Chop and Mally Lewis (the famous ventriloquist’s daughter) perform. Also watched the splash dog competitions, and rode around on the senior shuttle (golf cart) to get to all of the events. I guess it pays to go with a senior citizen J. We did a little fishing and duck feeding at Wasatch State Park. It was really beautiful in the mountains, and the weather was perfect.

Dear Family,
The Lindgren reunion was a wonderful time being with all of you in a very nice setting in view of the Manti Temple. We will cherish memories made there for a long time. Between then and now many more activities have filled our time.
Since Priscilla stayed in Salt Lake for an extra two weeks, she, Emily, and I took the kids and went to the free day at Kennecott Copper mine and visitors center on the Monday following the family reunion. It was nice knowing Priscilla was here and taking care of Mom during that week of her cataract surgery and the week following.
Our family went to Alan’s family reunion July 22-25 in Mantua, camping at the Box Elder campground. Even though it was hot, our camping area was shaded by trees all day, so it was very pleasant. The second day of that reunion, Heather accidentally fell (off a log) and pulled her elbow out of place. It’s been just under two months of therapy and healing and she is so happy that she can do Head Shoulders Knees and Toes again…. A few weeks ago she couldn’t touch her right shoulder with her right hand. This experience has really given her an extra appreciation for the abilities and miracle of the physical body.
During August, Ariane went to girls camp where they got rained out and had to come home a day early. She also had her only two wisdom teeth pulled and then had yearbook pictures taken 2 days later. Towards the end of the month she got busy with Drama council activities and then school started. Tryouts for the school musical was the second week of school, so Ariane will be in the chorus of “Guys in Dolls” to be shown November 5, 6, and 8. She has a great schedule of classes for her senior year that will be fun and keep her very busy.
Kevin has been working part time at Fed Ex, tending a family of four young boys, and spending a lot of time at the institute either fulfilling his responsibilities on the council, taking a class, or just hanging out. He’s developed a lot of good friendships there.
I got to go to BYU Education Week this year, first time in more than 30 years. It was nice to spend the evenings at Heather’s new home. Daniel had moved to her basement just the week before, so it was great to visit with Daniel too. I didn’t think I’d see Alan for that whole week, but I did because he came each night after work with our neighbor so they could work on three of Heather’s basement windows, installing new window wells which it didn’t have before.
We enjoyed listening to Heather sing with the Sterling Singers in their “Choirside” two weeks ago, and then last night going to hear Alan sing with the Mountain West Choral at the Assembly Hall as part of the 30 year anniversary of the Temple Square Concert Series. Marcus and Penny seem to be doing well on their missions. They’ve been working hard, each with their various challenges. Penny is currently serving in Lethbridge and works with the members of two young single adult wards. She and her companion were able to teach a 20 year old young man who accepted the gospel and was baptized by his friend who is ready to go on his own mission soon.
Marcus has been serving in the town of Trowbridge of Wiltshire since the end of July. This was his first assignment after leaving the England MTC. His companion was from Barbados and just went home last week. Now he has a new companion. He was a bit nervous with the pressure of having to know the area well enough to orient his new companion to that area when he felt like he was still learning it himself. I have posted some pictures that they have sent me on my facebook picture page for those of you who have connections that way and would like to see them.
We’re loving this fall weather with the cool nights, sunny days, and the seasonal harvest of fruits and vegetables.

Hello Family,
School has started but I made sure we took two more camping trips before we were done with summer. We went to Brunaue Sand dunes and sled on the sand with intermittent winds that made us feel like we were being rained sand. Yes it was worse than the beach when we got home. We kept Garrett in the car. He loved camping and does well with the lulling Cricket sounds. We also went up near a creek that roared at us all night. So delightful as we burned a campfire because we were finally camping in cool temperatures.
I don’t think I have written since the reunion. Has anyone? I can’t remember things as I am functioning on 5 hours of sleep and that isn’t straight. Between my late night teenager and my baby, this old body is tired. However Mom (Grandma Martha) so kindly reminds me. “Well at least it doesn’t hurt.” I have been talking on the phone with her quite a bit recently. She tells me three tender mercies when I call. If you have been by to visit or call or send a letter, you are listed in the tender mercies. She seems to get rained on by visits and loved by phone calls or she goes through a drought. Anyway, thanks to those of you who live near by and those who do what they can from a far. I hear it in her voice when she has been loved.
Dave has been really busy as a hay farmer this summer. Now whenever the kids say “hey” I say “That’s what Dad sells. Kristen asked me the other day what Dad really does for a job. I explained he designed the subdivision you live in and now he sells Hay. Hopefully, he will again one day, get to design subdivisions.
Rachel is cheering a ton for a school team that is listed #1 in the state for football. That’s fun. It is football season so I consider myself a football widow not a hunting widow. My whole family loves to watch the games so it is really a family affair. I just escape to garage sales or coupon shopping.
Nathan is in the school choir, on the cross country track team and really enjoying his social life. Done with merit badges and now for the Eagle project. At what point should I push him? I guess no driving or cell phone is not enough motivation yet.
Kristen drew a picture of an artichoke; it hangs in our kitchen because we all love to eat them.
Garrett, well he slept last night through the night but he has his second tooth coming and I’m sure a cold around the corner so no hopes for consistent sleep in the future. He is on his knees and anxious to crawl. I predict he walks by 10 mo. He has three teachers that really want him potty trained.
So I am sure there are more stories, but I am too tired to remember. I am planning on October making reservations in Wyoming for next years reunion. Be thinking about it because you will get an e-mail or a phone call so I can get a head count. Who was assigned that job anyway? Dorothy didn’t you take notes? It will be fun but next to two rivers so plan on watching your kids close.

Well the reunion was fun. I really enjoyed the Manti setting. The temple and Uncle Hellmut and Aunt Gerda were a good part of it. It was so great to see and visit and play with the family. I liked the aerial pool pictures (you know jumping in mid-air). John Anderson made it a great fishing experience for Isaiah and Bryan after the reunion. I recall Rick taking me fishing at age 15 not far from there at Joe’s Valley Reservoir. We enjoyed scenic Skyline drive on the return trip. It was much cooler up there. In fact there was snow covering half the road making it almost impassable. Thank you John A., don’t know how we would have made it without you.
I really enjoyed my extended stay with Mom. I found the autobiography of Hellmut on the shelf and began reading, but only got half way through. Will continue next visit. What an inspiration. Marty entertained me with some fine hikes. Thank you Janet for picking us up spontaneously as we decided to hike from Albion Basin to Brighton. The mountain flowers in full bloom, I took many pictures. We felt accomplished as we went to the top of Sunrise (or Sunset) Peak. We caught an afternoon thunder shower at the end. Looking forward to hearing about his Mount Whitney hike.
I enjoyed Aunt Pearl’s 90th birthday party Saturday afternoon and seeing the cousins. I also enjoyed the huge Pioneer Day parade in Salt Lake City that morning.

We met up with Marci and Trent at the Bean Museum …sorry we missed you Tom.
Sorry I didn’t get to see everyone I wanted to see…that is why coming to reunions is so great.

September is my favorite month. I think school should go through June and not start until the end of September. That will happen when I’m in charge. Of course when I’m in charge, I’ll be in charge of the weather too.

Hyrum has a full schedule with school, soccer and an economics class from the community college.
Bryan is having a great time in school with classes and friends.
Isaiah is also enjoying his new school and teacher, the husband of last year’s teacher. He’s playing drum in band.
Riley is loving and doing well in kindergarten.
And what more can I say, things are fine, busy.

I really enjoyed my extended stay with Mom. I found the autobiography of Hellmut on the shelf and began reading, but only got half way through. Will continue next visit. What an inspiration. Marty entertained me with some fine hikes. Thank you Janet for picking us up spontaneously as we decided to hike from Albion Basin to Brighton. The mountain flowers in full bloom, I took many pictures. We felt accomplished as we went to the top of Sunrise (or Sunset) Peak. We caught an afternoon thunder shower at the end. Emily took me out to dinner to celebrate my accomplishment as a BYU graduate. Thank you to all my family for all the nice and wonderful things you do for me and my family. I love you.
I got to visit Heather’s awesome house and school.
We met up with Marci and Trent at the Bean Museum …sorry we missed you Tom.
Sorry I didn’t get to see everyone I wanted to see…that is why coming to reunions is so great.

September is my favorite month. I think school should go through June and not start until the end of September. That will happen when I’m in charge. Of course when I’m in charge, I’ll be in charge of the weather too.

Missing James, he moved to Anchorage a month ago.
Hyrum has a full schedule with school, soccer and an economics class from the community college.
Bryan is having a great time in school with classes and friends.
Isaiah is also enjoying his new school and teacher, the husband of last year’s teacher. He’s playing drum in band.
Riley is loving and doing well in kindergarten.
And what more can I say, things are fine, busy.
