Dear Family,
Welcome Adaline Buhler, Dorothea Tomlinson, Jenna Lindgren to this world. Can you believe?…this makes 61 great grand children for me. ..Two on the way…Who would have thought this in 1945! Congratulations to the mamas and papas.
This is quite a winter we’re having…It’s a puzzle whether to park up on top or below.
Dorothy and I went to the Draper Temple Open House one Friday morning. We went to a ward house first and were shuttled over to the Temple because of lack of parking spaces with so many people attending. We’re told this is the 12th Temple in Utah. That is amazing. Many of you probably went through and admired the artistic work therein.
Heather and I went to Dorothy’s Stake Women’s conference in her area. Bro and Sister Walker were the main speakers…They were released not too long ago as the Salt Lake Temple Presidency. They’ve only been married some five years…as both were widowed before. She is President Hinckley’s oldest daughter. The talk focused mostly on Testimony and Temples…It was great. After a luncheon was served.
I enjoyed visiting with Amy and McKinley as well as Mike & Andrea and Halle for a few hours. It was nice for the Troutmans to drop by and for the telephone visits with Rick Jr. and Ryan. Grateful to Jennifer, Rick, Lucy for their frequent check ups…
For Dr. J Anderson in helping with my hearing...what a blessing to hear. Thanks John. You’re a peach.
With Rick’s help…I have a new bed…feels a little like the Princess and the Pea. After topping it off with a mattress pad and some egg pads.
Doing my daily stuff with extracting and genealogy. Things are calm except when I stir things up in my mind.
I’ve pulled together a descendants chart staring with Dad and I, its pretty much up to date. If any of you would like a copy, let me know, or if you want to wait till Kimberly and Zachary’s babies arrive, it will really be up to date.
Our ward had a Relief Society birthday called Antiques Road Show where each person brought something of their ancestry and told about it. I brought the picture with the quilt scraps I made ages ago and told about the Homestead of the Finucanes in South Dakota. I also brought the original wedding certificate of Gus & Matilda Lindgren. It was a fun evening…Food was brought representing the different countries the ancestors came from. One girl brought red cabbage…it was yummy….
Such was living in the past two months…Looking forward to spring and your news….Love to all, Grandma Martha.

Hello, Lindgrens!!
Well, I haven't written for a while, so you would think I have a lot to say. I don't... Things are going well, though. My biggest news is: I am officially out of debt!!! It is a great feeling to know I owe money to no one. So now I'm saving up again, and hope to buy a house in the near future.
I've survived some major upheavals at my charter school, and still have a job. So, that's good news. I still enjoy what I'm doing, and I'm at a really good school. We're just having troubles moving from being a brand new school to being a stable, established school. We'll be fine, it's just interesting to watch/experience the process. I sure am glad I'm not in any decision making positions! I just do my thing in the library, support the decisions that are made, and wait for it all to blow over....
Grandma and I are excited to go on a cruise in May! Rick invited me to join them as Grandma's roommate. This will be two firsts for me: crossing the ocean and going on a cruise. I am definitely looking forward to that vacation!

Dear Family,
In the past two months James and Lynnette celebrated their 3rd wedding anniversary and Jason and Becky their 7th! The weddings seem like they were just yesterday! Kevin turned 23, Jason turned 30, and Ariane will be that wonderful “sweet sixteen” this week!
Just as I stated in our last Lingo, the next visit we had with Jason’s family was to see our newest granddaughter, Dorothea Rose. She was born January 30th, and just as Jason described her over the phone, she is “cute, gorgeous, little, and perfect in every way!” We not only celebrated her birth during our visit, but Jason’s 30th birthday as well. It was fun to see the comparison of Father and son when Lucy sent us pictures to remind us. At age 30 Jason and Alan could have been twins (facial hair and all). Alan also had 3 children at that age and had moved into a new home, just like Jason.
After the family left I stayed an extra three days and enjoyed our grandchildren. I read stories to Katherine and David, watched them explore and be creative with play-dough, held Dorothea as much as I wanted, observed them soak in “story time” at the library, and watched as Jason’s family interacted with one another. I am so proud of Jason and Becky and how they are raising their family. They are an amazing example to the rest of us.
I am also very proud of Penny for making the decision to serve a mission! She will be fabulous! I’m looking forward to helping her with all the preparation coming up as good memories come back to me of that wonderful time with each of the first four children that served missions. She has begun the “paper work” and in doing so discovered she has “hypothyroidism.” I bring this up only because I am curious to know if anyone else in the family has this or something similar and their experience with it. We are both learning as much as we can about this new health issue and how she’ll need to deal with it. So far we are finding out that because of her choice to serve a mission, it has led us to find out about this condition earlier than we would have otherwise, which is a blessing.
At our Stake Conference in February, our family was asked to sing “Love At Home” as the special musical number. Kevin accompanied us on the piano. Then Heather invited us to sing in her ward, which will be tomorrow! I’m so glad our children are willing to do this and I’m pleased at their ability to do so.
Kevin was called and sustained last week as the new primary pianist in our ward. He’s excited and has been practicing Primary songs everyday this past week.
Mom and I toured the Draper Temple together Feb. 13th, Grandma Doelling’s birthday. Then Alan & I and our children took the tour on Presidents Day when they were all off school and work. The sun was shining and it was beautiful, but it was sure cold! We are very excited for the Oquirrh Mountain Temple open house June 1st to August 1st, because that’s “our” temple. I was recently called to be a sub-committee chair for one of ten committees for the open house from our stake. I am honored and thrilled to be involved in this way. My title is “Historical Records and Badges Committee Chairman.”
Heather, Penny, and I are planning on going to Womens Conference April 30 and May 1st… if any of you ladies are also planning on going, let us know and we’ll plan to get together with you for lunch or something!
We are looking forward to the cultural celebration for both temples coming up on May 29 and 30 at the Conference Center. Ariane will be involved in that exciting event with all the other young men and women in both temple districts.

Hello Family,
I missed last month but I have recruited help for this month. I asked my kids at dinner what they wanted me to write about them. Nathan said to let you know he just earned his first and second-class rank in the boy scouts. He went on his first camp-out with out his dad this weekend. There was 18 inches of snow and the low was 2 degrees. Brrrr. He already did the Klondike with Dave in February where the snow and temp was the same. I am amazed at how much work this Boy Scout thing is. Fortunately we have good scout leaders. I only have one son; you parents with multiple boys are amazing when you put all that effort into scouts. I was recently released as the Webelos leader, but I enjoyed the experience especially with Nathan acting as the Den Chief. This allowed Nathan to earn the Den Chief award also. He really loves scouts. It must be in the Lindgren blood.
Kristen has been sick the past few days, she has done a lot of reading, that is one of her favorite past times. Kristen also loves art and music. Kristen was recently in a school program where they sang Chinese songs. Spelling is one her best school subjects – I tell her she is like her Grandma Lindgren. She will be a great Scrabble player. Watch out Wendy. Kristen and Nathan were both in a piano festival where they had to memorize two pieces of music and then they were judged. Both of them received superior rankings. Their parents are proud of all the time and effort they put into piano practice. Kristen will be turning 8 on April 4th. She will be getting baptized on May 2nd. She is so excited.
Rachel has been teaching piano to four beginning students. Our neighbor asked her to start with her daughter and it seems to be going well. She gets paid $10 a half hour lesson. She has learned so much about teaching and about piano through her teaching experience. She also loves the money and has really been working on a budget to save money for her many different wants. She just finished her last cheer competition. One of the girls on her squad broke her wrist doing a backhand spring the night before competition. So they had to change their routine and did not do as well in the competition. Rachel really enjoyed her cheer season over all. I know Cheer is the most dangerous sport she could be doing. However she loves it and more people are injured driving in a car and we still get in cars every day.
Dave is doing well. We have both been exercising. We got the Wii Fit for Christmas and we love it. I should have listened to Angela Gilbert last summer when she was raving about it. We will have to compare scores on the balance games. Dave is getting very good at them and has competition with his brother who has downs syndrome; his brother spends hours at it. The economy has greatly affected Dave's business and there is a lot of creativity required on his part to keep busy and try to keep his Dad's business going. He is very patient and we both feel very blessed with what we have.
For our spring break (end of March) we are going to Oahu, Hawaii as a family. This has been a trip in the planning for a few years. We have cashed in all of our frequent flyer miles, which we earn through Dave's work credit card, and also Marriott miles and we have our vacation pretty much paid for. Too bad food costs so much. We are all looking forward to seeing the sun for a few days. I look forward to teaching my kids how to snorkel, but I wish I could teach them in Baja Mexico with Uncle Scott. I did not know how good we had it as kids. That was some awesome ocean swimming and snorkeling.
I feel like a woman of many occupations. I have been a nurse the last few days, a travel agent and bookkeeper, a human recourse organizer, teacher, chef and auditor of my children's grades and schoolwork. I have been an investor and a video producer (that one actually earned me some money this past month. I've been doing some house cleaning for hire also). I have been pruning fruit trees and preparing the spring garden; I think that makes me a temporary arborist. I have 5 baby tree seedlings to plant that I picked up at the homebuilders show in Vegas – a freebie from one of the companies promoting their wood products. Who would have thought that Dad and Mom thought they didn't teach their youngest how to work like the other 10 kids. I love all my jobs, but I love the relationships I have with my husband, children, other family and friends, the most. Life is good, despite a government that is really dysfunctional.
Have a great spring, plant a flower or something edible and be grateful for what God has given and blessed us with.

Life is good out here in Raleigh. We made it through a few winter snow storms and today its in the 70's. We're both still working, no kids yet. We're blogging every couple of weeks at www.cheyneyandryan.blogspot.com
A few highlights of the past couple months:
*We went indoor skydiving in a wind tunnel near an army base. It was a lot of fun. They shoot air and you float up and down for a few minutes. It's the closest I will ever get to flying. Cheyney has gone real skydiving before, but I don't have enough guts to do that.
*We're borrowing guitar hero from our friends. What an excellent way to waste time. We were first introduced by Cheyney's brother.
*I went to my first Daddy Daughter dance last night at Church. A girl from Primary asked me to go while Cheyn took her little sister out. The little sister is in our primary class and she did not make the age cut-off, so Cheyney decided to take her for a fun activity. Cheyn took her sister for laser tag while I was square dancing.
* We try to watch TV when we are at the gym. We watch 30 Rock, The Office, or Lost while on treadmills or exercise bikes. Cheyn like the bachelor. Sometimes we watch the Spanish channel.
*Work is going well at the Psychiatric hospital. One of my patients said he was arrested because he went to TGIF's on a Thursday and he also referred to police officers as "Gangster Mcbadges."

Dear Family,
In January we got together with Jeff and Jenny and their kids and took a walk around the Lafayette Reservoir. The children have a lot of energy. There were also a lot of dog walkers – funny how some dogs look like their owners.
A few weeks ago we went with Jenny (Jeff had to work) and their four kids and a friend to the San Francisco Academy of Sciences, which opened in September last year. I took off work on the third Wednesday because on that day the Academy is free. We arrived right after it opened at 9:30 a.m., but had to walk to the end of the line, which took about 15 minutes. There were thousands of people there (hmmm...guess they all had the same idea) and I thought for sure we wouldn’t get in, but I was wrong. We got in, after about 30 minutes walking in line. Incidentally, when we left, there was still a long line – once they reach their maximum they let people in as other people leave. Anyway, there was so much to see. (At first I wasn’t so sure we made the right decision in going when it was so crowded, but being that it was free, and saving us $25 per ticket, it was worth it.) It had so much to offer –the tropical rain forest where butterflies fly all around and you can see the tiny poisonous red and green frogs, 4 inch cockroaches, snakes, geckos, and all other sorts of creatures (thank goodness they’re in cages) that would typically live in a rain forest, the crocodile swamp, the aquarium, which had not only the California coastal sea life, but also the tropical and coral reef sea life. Have you ever seen a leafy sea dragon? (I think it beats the Monterey Bay Aquarium.) But there were also the penguins and the African wildlife displays, and the living roof. I am back to work full time. Business is picking up a bit. We had some small renovations done in our office, like new carpet and painting some accent wall (fall colors), and so the wall by my cubicle was painted a yellow-orange. It’s bright and sunny and better than having a white wall. I’m getting used to it.
Last week I flew up to Seattle to get my “Finn fix.” It was fun for me to see his development. We walked to the nearby library -- it's been a long time since I've been in an actual library. I watched Finn and Ammon at Finn’s swim lesson. I went with Angela and Finn to pre-school – getting worn out just watching him run around from one activity to the next. And spent one full day with just Finn and I – we watched Sesame Street, read books, and played with a variety of toys. He and Ammon chase each other all over the house, lots of squeals and hugs. He is such a little boy now. I love being Finn's grandma.
The past couple of months we’ve been pruning the fruit trees in the backyard and giving everything a good “haircut.” We’ve had a lot of rain, which we are so happy to get being as we’ve been in a long drought. Now it feels like spring – about 60 degrees and the weeds are growing like crazy (and especially noticeable in all the front yards of the foreclosure homes).

Hi family,
Well, just when we thought spring was here..... apparently snow is on the way tonight.
We went to church today and were pleasantly surprised to see the Tomlinson family sing for us. That was really a treat.
Parent teacher conferences just finished up, and the kids were able to have Friday off to just play. That was convenient for us because we were able to go to John's nieces sealing to her husband and baby in the Salt Lake Temple. It was followed by a nice luncheon at the Joseph Smith building in a room over looking the temple. It was a really neat day for them, and for us to be a part of it. Her husband's name is Marcus Mailei and he's hoping to be a part of the NFL draft this year. He is an awesome fullback, and a really great guy.
Casey started playing lacrosse this year, and he is on the Brighton Freshman Team. He plays as an attacker/midfielder, and he's really enjoying it. Their first game is next Saturday, and first tournament the following weekend at Jordan High. I hope he's up for it, he's pretty new to the sport, but I guess most of them are. It does look a little brutal though. It's a cross between Football and Hockey, where hitting each other with sticks is ok. It will be interesting to watch.
The kids just finished with about four weeks of swimming lessons. We thought we'd beat the summer crowd. They all did really well, and Travis especially loves the water.
Mitch just participated in the Space Derby at Cub Scouts last week. His rocket looked like a pencil, an idea he got from the internet. The kids were pretty impressed, it was unique.
Alyssa is enjoying Kindergarten and Dance. She found out she has to be a witch in her upcoming recital at Kingsbury Hall in June. She wasn't very happy about that at first, but the dance and music are darling and she's ok with it now.
Travis is enjoying his pre-schools, and getting much better at talking. He really enjoyed giving and getting Valentines this year too.

Well, just when we thought spring was here..... apparently snow is on the way tonight.
We went to church today and were pleasantly surprised to see the Tomlinson family sing for us. That was really a treat.
Parent teacher conferences just finished up, and the kids were able to have Friday off to just play. That was convenient for us because we were able to go to John's nieces sealing to her husband and baby in the Salt Lake Temple. It was followed by a nice luncheon at the Joseph Smith building in a room over looking the temple. It was a really neat day for them, and for us to be a part of it. Her husband's name is Marcus Mailei and he's hoping to be a part of the NFL draft this year. He is an awesome fullback, and a really great guy.
Casey started playing lacrosse this year, and he is on the Brighton Freshman Team. He plays as an attacker/midfielder, and he's really enjoying it. Their first game is next Saturday, and first tournament the following weekend at Jordan High. I hope he's up for it, he's pretty new to the sport, but I guess most of them are. It does look a little brutal though. It's a cross between Football and Hockey, where hitting each other with sticks is ok. It will be interesting to watch.
The kids just finished with about four weeks of swimming lessons. We thought we'd beat the summer crowd. They all did really well, and Travis especially loves the water.
Mitch just participated in the Space Derby at Cub Scouts last week. His rocket looked like a pencil, an idea he got from the internet. The kids were pretty impressed, it was unique.
Alyssa is enjoying Kindergarten and Dance. She found out she has to be a witch in her upcoming recital at Kingsbury Hall in June. She wasn't very happy about that at first, but the dance and music are darling and she's ok with it now.
Travis is enjoying his pre-schools, and getting much better at talking. He really enjoyed giving and getting Valentines this year too.
Well that pretty much sums things up for us. Hope you all are doing well.

Hi Everyone!
Well, it has been quite the winter here in snowy Seattle. Ok, it hasn't really snowed all that much since the big storms in December, but it's been snowing every day since Thursday this week... as if they didn't know this is March already! Come on, bring on the spring!
Anyway, things are going well besides the cold weather. Finn is a walking, running, climbing machine. He's quite the outgoing kid, who always wants to be in the middle of things at pre-school, and just about everywhere else we go. All the other kids in his class thinks he's so funny--he's already the class clown. His new favorite game is when I swing him around by his arms and then set him down to run. He's so dizzy he can't walk straight and falls over--both he and I find this to be hilarious.
Finn is also talking a lot more. His favorite word is GO!, although now he's starting to say NO! which isn't as much fun for us. He'll also say other words like YELLOW and BOAT and BALL--but he says GO! more than any other. He's all about going to swim lessons, mostly cause he likes playing in the water so much, and going for walks with his mom in his wagon.
I can't really think of anything that happened in January or February that was noteworthy or exciting, but we did just put in a new counter top and sink in our kitchen. We now have a butcher-block style countertop and a big new sink. I know I'm getting older when a new counter and kitchen sink is exciting, but what can I say... it's exciting! Mom was here during the process for a few days, keeping Finn occupied while we installed everything. It was fun having her here, even if it was just for a few days.
Other than that, everything is pretty normal. We go to work, we come home, repeat. But now, at least, the days are getting longer and the weather is warming up (or at least, it should be!).

Dear Family,
March came in like a lamb here for a few days, been blowing like a lion since. I got a few trees pruned.
We enjoyed the Great to be Eight fireside with Isaiah last night. His baptism will be April 11th in Snowflake. His birthday is Wednesday the 25th during spring break. The following Wednesday is his first pack meeting…the pinewood derby. So we’ve been getting ready. He painted his car red. One of my Cub Scouts just had a birthday, so I’ll still have eight with Isaiah.
James was asked to the MORP (that’s prom backwards, girls ask) dance by a girl in the broadcasting program in school. Apparently the invitation was broadcast on the morning announcements. He has responded with a short (1 minute) batman/joker movie that two of his friends have helped him with. The high school musical, "Oklahoma" is being performed this week. Next week is the 2nd annual film wars that James is looking forward to again.
Hyrum is trying to get his foot back in shape that he broke last fall (haha –get it? Fall?) in track. He has done all kinds of report and work projects in school.
Bryan just ended basketball season and enjoyed the time. He learned his defense position well and few got past him. He always seemed to be in the right place at the right time. He still plays French horn in band. We’ll see if that carrys over in junior high. All three boys still taking piano lessons and doing well.
Looking forward to a visit from Jennifer and Steve during our spring break.

Dear Family,
We are still here in Provo. Chris works out of town, but is home as often as possible. The new adventure has been interesting to say the least. Seems like I am never unoccupied. We are counting down to summer when we will either move or Chris will finish the next few years in school or both. Chris is actually taking 14 credits at UVU, distant learning center and working full-time. He is busy busy busy! I have been doing a lot with volunteering at my kids school.... things will slow down after the 20th of March.
The boys have been busy with school, scouts, and friends. Spencer just finished the science fair. Colten is totally into scouts, he attends 2 troops while he chooses one. Kaleb is in the gifted and talented program, which keeps him very busy. Garhett is totally into the friend scene. Rose can now write her name, at barely age 4 (girls are so different from boys) and loves to dance. Lilly can draw herself now, she loves to cook.
Chris and I worked really hard on the website and it finally launched last month! We are really excited for a place where couples can find intimate products --free from pornography! So we are plugging for you to support your family and spread the word about us! www.SimplySweetMarriage.com. We are really excited about the positive feedback that we have received from so many couples and therapists. In June, we will be featured in a national magazine who found us. We have already done the interviews and we are super thrilled about the possibilities.
