Obituary Pearl M. Pettey July 23, 1920 - March 25, 2013 Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great -grandmother passed away peacefully in Cottonwood Heights at her home surrounded by her family and loved ones. Pearl is survived by her sister Daisy Steed, 7 children, 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by one granddaughter. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 2:30pm in the Larkin Sunset Gardens Chapel, 10600 South 1950 East, Sandy, UT with her viewing one hour prior and interment to follow. Dear Family,
It was good to see so many of you at our New Year’s gathering at Emily and John’s new home.

I was impressed with Robert Preston’s sculpture of an older man that he posted on facebook and the oil painting look-alike of Sir Walter Raleigh. I enjoyed Robert’s visit from Utah Valley University in Orem and brought with him a bouquet of roses. Congratulations to Jacob who is in the Berlin Germany Mission. I was glad to learn that he was able to visit Cousin Ingrid in Dresden.

Congratulations to Aaron and Tara on their new baby girl. Congratulations to AubriRose on her baptism.  Sorry I couldn’t be there.

My eyes are getting weaker.

I had a visit from Ryan and Cheyney and family.  I had a visit from Zachary and Ruth. Thank you for the phone calls from Lucy and Jennifer, Priscilla, Rick.  I see Mike occasionally.  Had a little visit from Tom and Trent. Thanks for all the help from James and Lynnette, Janet and Marty, Dorothy.  Thanks to the Tomlinson family and Marty for all the temple work.  I had a visit from John and Sharron; Casey.  I’m glad for my family.  I am blessed to have family.

Best wishes to Casey, Marcus, and Ariane’s job search.

Glad to see Heather back in her niche in the musical "Hello Dolly."  Wished I could have seen Bryan in his performance in "Hello Dolly."

Heather and Annemarie have been helping me with genealogy.

My special nurse, Lynnette, has been giving me my eye drops; Dorothy going to the grocery store; Janet and Emily brought me flowers.  Janet  is supplying me with library CD’s.  I’ve been listening to Book of Mormon CD’s.  My bishop has been challenging us to read the Book of Mormon by Easter, and since I can’t see, I’ve been listening to it instead of reading.

John L. has taken me to see Pearl.  Pearl is on hospice.  Pearl was pretty tired so we visited with Diane most of the afternoon.

Heidi filled my chocolate craving.

Good luck to Eric and Misty in their move to Tooele and their new vocations in that hospital. Congratulations to Jody and family on your move to Bend, Oregon.

It’s been a long winter going up and down the icy covered stairs and snow covered snow shovel stairs.

Dear Family,

Yay, Spring is here!! Last week we planted six fruit trees in our orchard, prepared the bed for raspberries, and planted our spring garden.  We covered the veggie beds in plastic for protection against frost because we know this nice weather is only temporary.

I enjoyed a few fun days in Seattle with the grandkids.  Angela and I made a blanket for Harper, and I made a felt “stuffed animal” Titanic and Leprechaun for Finn, and a ladybug for Harper.  We played lots of games, read books, and went to Finn’s soccer game (he's the one holding the ball next to his coach in the picture).  Every morning I woke up with kids in my bed.  Harper had a fever one day and was very mellow and tired.  After almost a full day of sleep, she woke up to her happy and energetic self.  She loves “macaroni” (pepperoni) pizza.  Miles, nearly seven months old, is trying out new foods and seems to like everything that goes in his mouth.

Dear Family,
    We’ve been busy, just like you are.  And being busy keeps us happy.
The winter has felt long and cold, so we’re happy to see the weather changing into spring. 
    Alan’s assignment as baptistry coordinator on Saturday mornings at the temple has changed to doing regular line assignments again.  And my regular line assignments changed when I was called to be the Saturday Morning Coordinator for the sisters the beginning of the year.   It’s up to me to coordinate all their assignments so the temple runs smoothly on Saturday morning.  I’ve had to learn how to work the excel program, and I’m still learning it.  I love working with the sisters there.  They are always so anxious to help in anyway they can. 
    Our church callings keep us busy too… but we love working with those in the stake and ward.  It’s our life and we love it.
    I took Mom in this past week for a minor adjustment to the lens that was placed in her right eye during her cataract surgery a year ago.  It went well.  But it will take time for it to heal as with any other surgery.  She’s anxious to get back to reading her genealogy again.
    Ariane spent her full week of spring break with us.  I was reminded of how much we miss her when she is gone.  We like having her around.  While she was home, she and Marcus helped me in the yard doing spring gardening kinds of things.  They enjoy working together.

    We’ve enjoyed our Family Home Evening with our children.  They love coming home to visit with each other.  We also use that time to celebrate any birthdays in the family… so it feels like a party every month we’re together.
    Congratulations to Bryan in your starring role in “Hello Dolly.”  I would love to have seen you perform.  Heather will be in the “Hello Dolly” performance at the Scera in Orem next month.  It would be great to get all of these talented Lindgren relatives together in a musical or some other performance.  I know they’d have a blast working and performing together.
    Congratulations John and Sharron on your mission call.  You are a wonderful example to the rest of us.     
Ariane plans to begin the missionary application process this week.  Kevin will be coming home the first week of June.  Once he’s home and before Ariane leaves, I plan to have a family picture taken again.  I have to seize the moments when everyone is home.

    Kevin has done well on his mission.  We continue to receive glowing reports about him from the members that work with him and/or those that have him and his companion in their home.  In January he had a companion that could sing, so Kevin played the piano for him and they'd do a musical number for those that invited them into their homes.  One lady recorded it and put it on You-Tube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=auh8P8JBzPY  Since his transfer in February, he’s been “training” his brand new companion. 
    I hope all is well with you.  I look forward to reading your letters of all your doings.

We are excited to announce our Mission call to the Germany Frankfurt Mission with a report date of 1 July 2013 at the MTC in Provo,Utah.  Sharron  & I are very excited to return to Germany on a mission where we both served some 44 years ago (Mar/May 1969 - Mar/May 1971). Love to all,

We just wanted everyone yo know of our love for all of you.  We are very excited about our mission call to the Frankfurt Germany Mission as member & leader support missionaries.  We are presently brushing up on our mission at the senior MTC in Provo,Ut.  Our report date is not till  1 July 2013.

We would like to invite all to come & hear our "farewell" talks at church & attend an open house here on Sunday, 23 June 2013.  Church at 11 am.

We all seem to be doing well.  Gretchen is due with our 25th grandchild in April. Life is great.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!  Grandma Ann was born 120 years ago.

At the Silver Creek District Adult Recognition night in February, Jim was awarded the District Award of Merit for his outstanding service to scouts over the years.  Since he wasn’t there because of his work in Window Rock, I accepted it on his behalf.  He received a plaque, certificate and knot to wear on his uniform.

Bryan in Snowflake High School’s production of Hello Dolly! was incredible, fantastic, amazing, wonderful, outstanding.  I’m sad its over it was so good.  They performed 6 nights over two weekends. Bryan played the role of Barnaby Tucker in Yonkers’ cast and was a dancer in New York’s cast.  His voice blended well with Cornelius.  He persuaded the choreographer to incorporate his back flip on both nights.  This flip is something he has been working really hard on to do.  He did it in the learning to dance scene at the millinery shop and on the other night as one of the waiters in the Harmonia Gardens Restaurant.  Because MORP (for those who don’t know that is prom backwards where the girl asks the guy and it is casual dress) was on the closing night, cast party was the night before.  On the last night he was the spokesperson from the cast that thanked the directors, etc. and gave them flowers and gift cards.  He stayed and helped put things away as he wound down from the experience. 

James, Jim, and I enjoyed his first night performance, Hyrum was in the audience for his second performance, and Krista, Ryan, Isaiah, and I enjoyed his final performance.  I saw him on  his off(New York cast) night too.

James spent his spring break with a group of ASU students doing a service trip to San Diego.  They cleaned the beach, cooked some meals, and worked construction on Habitat for Humanity.  You may have seen pictures posted on Facebook.

Hyrum has the presidential scholarship to ASU for the fall.  He is waiting anxiously the results for his Naval Academy, Barrett’s Honor’s College at ASU, ROTC scholarship, and a few other scholarship applications.  He said he’ll know everything in a month.  He is pretty amazing, self-motivated and smart (as one post card told him from a Texas college –yeah, it said, “Dear Hyrum, you are smart.”   He had a bit of recruit mail, he usually just threw in the trash).  He is running the long distance runs in high school track.  Bryan will be joining him now that the musical is over. 

Isaiah is looking forward to being 12.  He has had a faithful experienced scout leader and has filled the requirements for his first class scout award. 

Riley and Samantha now reside in Buffalo, New York with Desree and her husband, Jesse.

I’m excited for John and Sharron meeting their goal of going on a mission to Frankfurt.  Best wishes you two.
