Dear Family,
Here I am again. Christmas and New Years seem to have flown right by me. Lots of activity but the best part was seeing some of you. Christmas Eve seemed to be traditional for a party... Fun to visit with the Tomlinsons, the Tom Lindgren Family including Trevor and family. It was fun to see Kimberly for a minute. Cheyney and Ryan are fun to visit with and I thank them for their kind words. Jeremy and Annisha dropped by.
We learned about Tom's scary accident and felt sympathy for April's limping. Many thanks to all of for the lovely gifts. Today I'm enjoying the new computer but still struggling with the New Family Search. Dorothy and I were able to get 100 names into the Bountiful temple this January.
The new year came in with a bang. Congratulations to Ammon and Angela with their new bundle Harper. Looks like 2010 is bringing forth three more on the way.
It was good to see Sarah again after some years... Priscilla and I had some good visits... Four puzzles were put together during the holiday time. Jim was so hooked he stayed up till 4 a.m.
Some of us stayed to welcome the New Year in, I was one that actually was still awake at 4 a.m.
Ryan and Isaiah spent time at Emily and John's to be with their cousins. Emily was good to keep the boys under her wing while the adults did their thing.
Congratulations on your success at the Cheer Leader competition Rachel. Lucy spent an overnighter with me. She made carrot juice (yummmm). She also readjusted the picture grouping of the married grandchildren... I found one picture of Nicole & Jeff. We need Sarah and Daniel's picture, Krista and her new husband, Aaron, Gretchen, Peter, and then I would have them all.
Priscilla told us of Krista's accident.. scary but grateful that you weren't seriously hurt.
Jennifer called and tells of her experience as grandmother to Harper. She's up there in Seattle.. I guess she'll write of the smashed window on their truck on the passenger side.
I' m pulling things from my memory so I'm a bit helter-skelter. It was fun playing Ticket to Ride with Nathan when he was here.

Marty got a book from the library "In Harm's Way". He left it with me to read. I got quite involved with it. It is about the Eastern German Mission during the War years. Some of the families I know are Cieslaks (Diane), Schaarschuch, Scherwinski, Gangien. The members tell their stories and am sure grateful we left 10 years before it happened, The book is new and hasn't hit the book stores yet.
Priscilla and I visited with Aunt Pearl. She has a picture that we're coveting. It has a Harley Davidson Motorcycle with Al and Ann and Bob. Pearl will be turning 90 this year and having a celebration in July. She has intent of writing a story that Priscilla took on tape.. she's going to illustrate with pictures, including the Harley Davidson Motorcycle one.
During the pre-holiday season, our stake had a singing devotional.,. Heather had a solo part, she was great, I was also able to enjoy the UVU choir with Daniel in it. The clogging girls had seven gigs during the holidays... a ward, festival of trees, Christmas Fest at the Fairgrounds (like the past Dickens). Council of women program, 2 rest homes. We had a fun party at the Cowboy Restaurant,
I had to get a new checking account again because of a possible fraud.. Maybe I'll learn this time.
Rick and John take good care of me.. I appreciate them so much.

Hello Family!
Let me be the first to introduce Harper Rose Gilbert to the family! She was born January 2, 2010, at 12:48 a.m., weighing in a petite 7lbs 12oz, and just over 19 inches long. So far, she's the mellowest baby on the planet, rarely cries about anything, and even sleeps through the night. Finn loves being a big brother! He gives her kisses all the time, and is sure to let us know if 'baby Harper's eyes open' if she's awake. No rivalry yet, and we're hoping it stays this way.
Speaking of Finn, the kid's a talking maniac these days. Not only is he saying more words, but he's busting out more and more sentences. Yep, he's really a little person/toddler now, and not a baby. Very cool.
Mom & Steve came up for a week and had fun with the two grand kids, even though it poured the whole time they were here. It was good to have an extra hand.
So Angela's home from work taking care of Harper and Finn until April, and I'm still slaving away at the torture chamber I call my job, per usual. Dear Family,
As usual, the Christmas and New Years season was enjoyable and has gone the way of the past all too soon. It was so nice to see Priscilla & Jim, Sarah, Bryan, and Isaiah on New Years, though our visit was brief, as well as Emily’s family. It was also good to have Tom’s and Emily’s family join us at Mom’s for Christmas Eve.
What an eventful time for Emily’s family (and such an astonishing change to their lot) to finally see some progress toward their plans for their dream home. May the outlook get better and better, and less and less frustrating!!
Backing up I’ll review our news and highlights since the middle of November. The week before Thanksgiving, Alan took two days off work to not only celebrate our 36th wedding anniversary, but to also look at possible sites between Salt Lake and Logan for our Tomlinson family reunion of which we are in charge of this summer. We secured a place between Logan and Brigham City. Yea!! We’re also looking forward to the Lindgren Family reunion this year. Thank you Priscilla for finding and securing a place for all of us this coming July.
Our family spent Thanksgiving Day with Alan’s brother’s family in Centerville. The following evening we had another big Thanksgiving dinner at our house with our children, including Jason’s family who couldn’t be with us the day before. It is always fun to find an excuse to get our kids together.
The first Saturday in December I held a piano recital for my students. I had it in the recital hall at Riverton Music for the first time. I usually do it at the church because it is closer and free. I think the students enjoyed the experience of playing on a beautiful grand piano this time.
The following week we drove to Orem and saw Daniel sing with the very professional UVU Chamber Choir and Masterworks Choral in their Christmas concert. Then just two days before Christmas we went to the Libby Gardner Concert Hall on the U of U campus and enjoyed the Christmas Concert by the Sterling Singers that Heather sang in. What would the Christmas season be without all that wonderful music?
When Alan was released as Bishop in October, he was called to the stake high council the same Sunday, so since then, the time he puts into his calling has slowed way down. He prepares and gives a talk in one of the wards every month and has his regular stake meetings and other assignments, but nothing like when he was bishop. Most of the time we leave for church together and come home together. Sometimes he doesn’t know what to do with his extra time…(for a minute that is).
My new calling is Stake Historian. My busiest time of the year for that calling is right now when I collect all of the ward and stake histories for the past year and send them to Church headquarters where they are stored in the archives of the Church History Library. They are also available for people to view if they are interested. The new Church History Library across the street from the Conference Center is very impressive and a place one could spend hours if they enjoy reading the history of anything related to the church.
We enjoyed our Christmas missionary phone call with Penny. Because we can hear better on our old land line phones, I bought a calling card to call her. Someone was at the end of each of the 5 phones during that short 45 minutes. Penny is doing well, keeping busy with lots of teaching appointments. She is currently in Lethbridge, Alberta. Her letter writing address always stays the same which is a good thing because she has lived in three different places since she arrived over 3 months ago, but still the same companion who is from Cottonwood Heights, Utah.

Here are 8 pictures. #3175, 79, and 80 were of the New Years Eve party at Grandma's. Emily had to work all night, but the rest of her family came. Priscilla & Jim were there as well as Bryan, Isaiah, and Sarah. Jason's family, James & Lynnette, and the rest of us were all there as well. When I saw James and Kevin visiting with Grandma, I asked them to look up. Grandma said, "wait a minute, I need to take off my glasses." Then Kevin said the same thing and took his off. Then James took Kevin's glasses and put them on. pretty funny!
pictures # 3187, 90, 91, and 92 were the same night at our house. We came home just a half hour before the stroke of midnight. We all counted backwards together and then opened the Canadian Crackers. Happy 2010! I'm back in the swing of things after the holiday break, and very happy to have the day off on Martin Luther King Day... My job is still going well - I don't stress about teaching Math and Reading on top of my library responsibilities anymore. I just try not to complain about the time it takes away from my 'real job' as librarian. I hope I won't be teaching both again next year (It would be nice to have time to shelve, catalog, and order books again...) I enjoyed dancing with people from Indiana, Denver, and New York at the Utah Lindy Exchange this weekend. Once a year, Utah hosts a weekend LindyHop dance party, inviting dancers from all over the US. I try to attend at least one of the dances each year, and always enjoy myself. The Big Band they hired this year was FANTASTIC! Sometimes I think I might be living in the wrong decade... I enjoy hearing about Penny's missionary experiences - it helps me remember some of my own. My testimony grew so much as a missionary! I began recognizing blessings in my life and learned a lot about myself, as well as learning (and teaching others) how to find happiness through the teachings of the Savior. I can tell Penny is having similar experiences and learning moments. I sure am glad she decided to be a missionary! I just started teaching 'music lessons' to a couple little girls in my neighborhood. I was surprised about a week ago by a phone call from a neighbor, asking how much I would charge to come teach her girls to sing. After getting advice from Mom and another music teacher I know, I arranged to go to their house once a week. They're still in the 'listen, smile, and enjoy' stage and don't really sing along much, yet. (one is 4 years old, the other close to 3) So, I'll treat it like Nursery (at church) and singing time I used to do as a Preschool teacher. We'll sing the same songs each week until they start actually singing along. Then, I'll introduce new songs and maybe even concepts like rhythm, dynamics, key, etc. It should be fun! (and I'll get paid for it...) They're cute girls. Well, that's about all I have to say this time around. Love, Heather Tomlinson

Congratulations to Angela & Ammon on their new arrival. Facebook is wonderful for the quickness of news...
Happy Birthday to Me. I'm now 23 hehe. I've wanted to go cheese sampling.. so James got me a cheese sample platter with 7-8 different cheeses. Yummm
We had 2 Christmas' one with James Family and another in Saint George with my Family. My sister in Arizona was able to fly her family so we could all visit. I came down sick, for 2 weeks, from all the excitement. (Bronchitis with badly inflared Asthma. Utah air is horrible. Must move to mmm Hawaii or a mountain top with clear air. lol)
We had quite the trip... Just upon my excitement that we were going to get home in just under 4 hours at my current speed, I heard a small noise which almost instantly became a loud terrible noise. ahhhh our tire had just blown. We were on I-15 south of Sipio, it was 11 pm, later we were told the temperature was something like 10 or 17 degrees. brrrrrrr empty out the trunk to dig out the spare tire & jack we discovered we had NO FLASHLIGHT in almost pitch-black lighting, with occasional car headlight passing, we had to make do with a small minuscule light James had on his keyring. James had the darnedest time getting the jack on the car frame. We bent the cosmetic metal trim the first and second try. I walked to the next exit, and basically froze my ears, to find where we were in case we needed to call for help. well finally after forever James successfully got the jack to stay put and got the tire changed... we re-loaded the car... stopped at a close gas station for some much needed warmth and HOT CHOCOLATE and traveled home at a speedily 50-55 mph... got home at approx 2 am ish. It really took us 7 hrs to make a 4 - 4 1/2 hr trip. oh the excitement. (ok maybe not that exciting).
We want to be more social with those our age. We've begun hosting weekly parties with various younger couples that live in our neighborhood. We may also start a weekly dinner group...
I've been cooking more from scratch. I made chocolate mousse. Was super heavy. Must make it more to perfect... and get it lighter.. hehe. Also I discovered the Olive Garden Alfredo Recipe on the olive garden website. mmm delicious... they have other recipes also check it out http://www.olivegarden.com/recipes/recipe_search/recipe_display.asp? id=69
We're slowly making progress on our business endeavors... Procrastination is no good to anyone. There is nothing to Fear but Fear itself. I still conducts food parties, not as often as I'd like though.
James is still staying busy and loving his job drafting & designing stuff. And the cats are just as lazy as ever.

We're slowly making progress on our business endeavors... Procrastination is no good to anyone. There is nothing to Fear but Fear itself. I still conducts food parties, not as often as I'd like though.
James is still staying busy and loving his job drafting & designing stuff. And the cats are just as lazy as ever.

Hello Lindgrens!!!
Wanted to start out by saying congrats to Ammon and Angela and their new baby Harper Rose. You two are cool parents and its fun to see your family grow as you add your second child.
We have some fun baby news of our own. Cheyney is due June 21. Thank you to everyone and all of the prayers that were offered on our behalf. Cheyn hasn't been that nauseous and is starting to show now. We're reading books and doing everything we can to get ready before the fact, and then we'll have to learn the real way. We'll know the gender soon so check on our blog in the next week: cheyneyandryan.blogspot. com.
We started teaching the 3 year old sunbeams at church. The kids are a hoot and were learning how to handle them and keep them from harming themselves or others. Next we will try to make some sort of routine and actually try to help them learn things. Were about 12 weeks away from the lesson "I am thankful for water" so were trying to start the build up.
We were able to make it out to Utah over Christmas for a brief stay around the Holidays and got to spend part of Christmas with Grandma Lindgren. She is such a hoot and I love hearing her detailed stories about growing up in New York. She also shared a memory of when she was a girl on this video:

Dear Family,
Our baby granddaughter, Harper Rose, was born January 2. We are so thrilled to have her. She is such a quiet, good-natured little gal, and already sleeps most of the night. It's so fun to watch all the expressions on her little face. Steve and I went to Seattle this past week and just loved holding her and playing with Finn. He loves his little sister. Finn is a real kick. He is such a character. He loves to help in the kitchen. One day Steve and I took him to the top of the Space Needle. He had been talking about it all week since he can see the Space Needle from his house and on New Year's Eve he watched fireworks explode off the top with his other grandparents while Ammon and Angela were in the hospital. So he was thrilled to go in it. We also took a ride on the monorail and Ammon met us at the end of the line (a short ride), a few minutes walk from his work. Finn says "Papa" and "Granma" and repeats everything you say.
The first night at the hotel our truck got broken into. It was parked in an underground parking garage. Weird thing, nothing was stolen. The alarm must've scared off the intruder. The hotel people were very nice to us -- free breakfast and free parking the rest of the week, and a big discount on the hotel rate, and their insurance paid for the window. Still, it was a hassle -- it was pouring rain, so no waiting around to get it fixed.
Angela had me busy sewing yet another project -- which was great...(baby legs, car seat blanket insert).
I got a new cell phone for Christmas -- takes pictures and texting (has a mini typewriter). We have Verizon, so free talking to anyone that has Verizon. It's awesome, and Ammon says I'm finally moving into the 21st century (with the texting).
We saw Avatar in 3D IMAX. It was fantastic. Really felt like we were there. The technology is amazing.
Things at work has been pretty busy, which is always a good thing.
A big congratulations to Rick and Reba on their 40th wedding anniversary! Also congrats to Ryan and Cheyney on expecting their first baby in June. And congrats to April on her wedding in May.

Dear Family
Greetings from Snowflake, AZ. We enjoyed our three weeks with Sarah here from Massachusetts . She left us her former computer that really helps relieve our high demand. We enjoyed going up to Salt Lake for the New Year. Isaiah and Bryan love their Aunt Emily taking care of them. Thank You Emily. Riley has taken up residency with us as of January 9th. We hope that it can be a permanent arrangement.
We had an auto accident in our family involving Krista last month. I received a call from Jim about 8 a. m. when I was at work and school was just beginning. He said Tavi’s mom had come to the house to tell him that they (Krista and Tavi) had been in an accident and were air-vac’d to Flag. Jim called the hospital in Flagstaff for more information and called me back. Krista was okay, just being checked (cat scan) to make sure. Tavi was with her. He was not in the accident, he just got to go on the helicopter ride. I called her about 9 a. m. and talked to her directly. She was obviously on pain medication, but talking to her, I knew she was going to be okay. That was my point of view.
Now the rest of the story: Krista got off work at 6 a. m. and was driving the 30 minute commute south on hwy 77. She said she had both hands on the wheel and had Tavi on speaker phone as he was up getting ready to go to work. She saw headlights turn into her lane and had to make a quick decision to either pull off the road on the right or to take the opposite lane to avoid a collision. She chose to stay on the pavement and take the opposite lane, but at 65mph their passenger front corners hit. Krista was driving a VW bug. The other vehicle a mini-van. Tavi heard her scream on the phone and then say, “I can’t breath, I can’t breath!” as the air bag had knocked her breath away. Tavi threw his shoes on, and as he headed out the door, accidently let his phone close. His dad’s truck was warming up to go to work. He said, “Dad, we got go now! Krista’s been in a wreck.” So they jumped in the truck without telling Tavi’s mother. Tavi tried to get Krista back on the phone, but she wouldn’t pick up. His mother called him to say, “Tavi, your father just left without eating his breakfast or taking his lunch. Tell him to come back and get it.” Tavi just told his mother, “Okay, I’ll tell him.” Because he didn’t know yet what had happened to Krista, he didn’t know what to tell his mother.
In the meantime, on this lonely stretch of road, on the high cold desert, Krista said after the awful crashing sound it was deathly quiet. She attempted to open her car door and then felt very weak as it just closed again. The first person to stop was one of Krista’s co-workers. She says she remembers hearing him on the phone with 9-1-1 saying, “she just gained consciousness.” She said she was wondering how he got in her car because she always keeps her doors locked. Another person stopped and held her head still in case of neck injuries. The third person had a flashlight and covered Krista in a blanket and talked to her calmly until the ambulance arrived…a good 20 minutes or more. Krista said he was a silver-haired angel. Then Tavi arrived. Debris was spread 200ft along the highway. Half of her VW bug was sheared off. Highway patrolmen told her she was lucky and made the best decision under those “who-knows? “ circumstances. It is believed the other driver, “an elderly gentleman” had fallen asleep at the wheel. He was apparently up and walking around at the scene of the accident, though his car was totaled also. It was good that neither driver had a passenger.
Tavi enjoyed his 45 minute helicopter ride. He said it was pretty tight quarters. Jim picked them both up from the hospital later that day after everything checked out okay. Krista was very sore with bruises and a few cuts and limped for a few days, but after 10 days went skiing, so you know she is better. On the way back from Flagstaff, they stopped at the wrecking yard in Holbrook to clean out the car and found this blanket that was left to cover her and it had a label, “To Bishop Brimhall, love, your 10th ward Young Women.” Well we are in the 10th ward and Keith Brimhall is our Bishop. Also while at the wrecking yard, Tavi pulled the metal VW off the vehicle and had it made into a belt buckle with the date of the accident [12-17-09] engraved on it. He must have really enjoyed that helicopter ride.
I sure enjoy my family. James and Hyrum surprised me and joined Bryan and the other scouts on the Klondike (district winter camp) this weekend. Hyrum said he just needed this one more campout to complete his camping merit badge and James just went for fun. Bryan is the Deacons quorum president and patrol leader of about 8 boys. Every Sunday I sit at the organ watching three of my sons prepare, bless and pass the sacrament. Kind of odd from years ago when I sat in the congregation with little boys and Jim sat on the stand. Now he is down there with Isaiah and Riley and I’m up at the organ.
I was a judge at the spelling bee at the school where I work. James came over with his media technology class to stream it on to the internet where the classrooms could pick it up on their smart boards. Amazing stuff.

Hello Family - from the Bosleys in Saratoga Springs! We've had a nice Christmas. Jon's Mom came to spend Christmas with us. (His Dad died last year right before Christmas, so this was very special to all my kids.) Jon is still working at Procerus in Orem. He works on the robotic portion of unmanned vehicles. It is pretty interesting. Brent is in 7th grade now. He is joining the robotics club, doing the spelling Bee, and besides LOTS of READING, he has a special interest in clay. He has a special gift with his hands. He also has a generous heart, and loves to make stuff for any of his siblings or friends that want something. Because the clay is expensive, he makes things very small. It is AMAZING. Jessica is in 6th grade. She is in "Musical Express," a singing group for her school. She has just been bit by the reading bug. Over the holidays and recently, she has got to spend time with her Grandma (Reba) Lindgren. Josh is in 3rd grade. He loves math, reading, and anything that is a computer. He is very efficient with his time, which allows him to do a lot. Katelyn is in 1st grade. She's hit some important milestones this year. She has read 4 chapter books already. She enjoys doing gymnastics, is a great artist (she has amazing handwriting too!), and is just a really nice person to be around. Matthew turns 4 on Friday, January 22nd. He is in preschool a couple days a week, and enjoys playing with cars and trains. He would love to outside more. So that is the scoop with us!

Our family enjoyed a quiet Thanksgiving and Christmas season. I had fun cooking up all the traditional dishes, and the boys lit candles for ambiance---or just because they like fire. We were invited to join the Morgans and the Moss' house on Christmas day for a fabulous dinner and fun times. It was so good to be with family. New Year's Eve was spent in a warm cabin surrounded by rain and gushing water falls at Silver Falls State Park. We didn't hike around as much as we thought we would, but the boys did explore some narrow trails and we played a few board games while we dried out.
During free time, I remember Caleb writing pages and pages of a story set in Mesopotamia for a school assignment (even though it only needed to be one page). Tucker played hard, inside or out, and usually with friends. Carson legoed from 6 a. m. to bedtime, breaking only for meals and a chance to play wii at his friend's. Anja danced, bowed, and danced again. When we had a sudden snowstorm, they all made the most of 24 hours of snow, sledding, snowmen, forts, and loved it.

Hi Family,
Well, it's been two months now living with John's Dad here in Holladay. I think for the most part we're pretty much settled in, and things are good. We had a fun time watching our house, the "little" house, our shed and 35 trees get destroyed and carried away a week before Christmas. We purchased a new camera before hand and literally took thousands of pictures during the process. I will do my best to send some. The property looks completely different. Our neighbors were really shocked to see it also. They were first very concerned the day before when Sandy City's crime scene investigation unit used it to stage a murder. There was yellow crime scene tape and cop cars galore on both sides of the street and soon the calls started streaming in. I had only warned one neighbor that it might happen, and in hind sight should have made more calls with the heads up. It's good to know we have wonderful neighbors who are looking out for us. Anyway, they wanted to bring their swat team in the following week, but the house was gone the next day. We still go out there to pick up our mail, take our kids to school, and go to church. We just look at in amazement every time we go out there and can't believe it's really our property. We didn't change our address or our phone number, as we hope to start construction sometime in March.
Casey turned 16 in December and celebrated by going snowboarding with some new equipment. I can't believe he's that age already, and 3-1/2 inches taller than me already also. We had a good Christmas, although we barely had the tree out and decorated a couple of days before Christmas Eve. It went by too fast for us. My kids were only out of school for a week this year. It was a very fun-filled week though, we were glad to see Priscilla and her family. We had fun playing games, seeing movies, and sledding. Last week I was able to go out with Mom and Lucy for a yummy dinner at Cheesecake Factory. We're excited to see her new baby boy hopefully sometime next month!
