Things have been fairly normal around here, since normal is ever changing and busy.

The most exciting thing to happen was a couple of firsts for our family. – Disclaimer: everyone is healthy and fine – Becky had the excitement of riding in an ambulance for the first time, the only downside was she was lying down and not enjoying the ride. Jason also talked with a 911 operator for the first time, they are quite helpful and efficient, if you ever need to talk with one be sure to thank them for their service. Katherine was awake for the excitement of 8-10 large men and sirens in our front room and declared that she “woke up too soon” and needed to go back to bed. It helped that she knew one of the EMT’s as a classmate’s father, who had come to their class to talk about fire safety, so later we were able to explain who the men were and why they came. We also caused quite a stir in our quiet neighborhood at 8:00 in the morning. So, now the story. . . Becky has often gotten up and mowed our front lawn before the kids are awake. Well this particular morning, she got light-headed as she was putting the mower away. I had just kissed her good-bye and she blacked-out on the driveway. Well, falling over on the concrete is no fun, but if you are not awake to catch yourself, you will give yourself a concussion. Due to the fact that she was delirious when she came to, I was advised to get the paramedics there quickly, just in case there was major trauma to the brain. Long story short, after five hours at the Emergency Room, the doctors gave her a “clean” bill of health, minus a minor concussion and the advice to not over-exert herself before breakfast. Lastly, we came home to have our babysitter inform us that David had had his first bee sting, on his foot, while we were gone. What a day of firsts.

After all that excitement, nothing else we have done comes to mind as noteworthy.

Jason is still doing summer classes, which makes it difficult to enjoy the “lazy days of summer.” We will not be able to make the Lindgren reunion, so we send our love and greetings, with plans to be there next time (as I will hopefully have graduated and summers will slow down). To make up for the limited vacations this year, we have taken several Saturday picnics up Logan canyon, which, honestly, have been less stressful and almost as fun as a full-blown camping trip.

Speaking of school, Katherine is chomping at the bit to go to first grade next year. She continually amazes us with her memory and excitement to learn. She is constantly asking about swimming lessons (which we haven’t started yet) and has begun to ask about our plans for Christmas, informing us about her wishes for whom to visit first and what we should eat for dinner.

David loves doing pages in his workbook to prepare for kindergarten, which he will not start for another year. We just need to keep their love of learning going for another 18 years (or more).

Dorothea is starting to vocalize and uses a few basic words. It is crazy to watch kids grow so quickly and develop their own personalities.

We are getting excited for the garden explosion. Our strawberries have begun fruiting, our raspberries will be on in a couple of weeks and most of our garden produce is nearing the start of harvest. We have been buying produce from Bountiful Baskets (a produce co-op in UT, AZ & NV) which has been forcing us to eat more fruits and vegetables and occasionally try new things. We like most everything, but recently concluded that we do not like brussel sprouts, no matter how we tried to cook them. It is crazy how quickly eating habits can change with a little effort. In fact, I dare say we are actually eating very nutritiously (not too common in American culture).

Again, we send our love and greetings to our family. We know that family is what makes this life worthwhile. Thanks for your prayers, love and efforts to keep our extended family close (via the lingo, reunions and gatherings). Keep up the effort.

Dear Family,

This is quite a summer for me... going on a cruise, falling, learning about cataracts.
Looking forward to family reunion, not looking forward to cataract surgery on the 22 of July. Having a little trouble seeing clearly hence the bold lettering herewith.

Two new blessings have been added with Samuel Packard Lindgren and Jazlynn Kay... total 66 greats. Isn't that something?

Another blessing is Marcus Tomlinson's mission.

Grateful to Rick and Reba for making it possible for me to see the Rhine, the castles, Windmills... and enjoying the getaway. Heather got some good pictures she showed us on TV. Some excitement when another vessel ran into us. I was transported through the airports in a wheelchair. Privileged character. I'm a little old limping lady but doing good.

Miss Heather now that she's in her house, Gets a little lonesome.... come and visit.

Had a nice visit with Nicole and Heidi one day. Janet's been good to take me to eye clinic. Rick is always my right arm.

house repairs... (aaahh!!! stress!!!)

occasional garbage left on my lawn by people walking by (from the gas station)
being in debt (I hate that part)
bills
figuring out where to put it all (how can a single person fill an entire house so quickly?)
it's old... who knows what's going on behind walls, in the attic, under floors...


I miss:
watching old movies with Grandma several times a week
seeing Grandma nearly every day
birds singing outside my window in the mornings
Deer in the yard (I know they're pests, but they're fun to see!)
Brighton 8th ward friends
Primary singing time
saving money (instead of paying it)
awesome mountain views along Wasatch Dr and Danish Rd
(Pleasant Grove mountain views are nice, but not as majestic)
Getting stuck for several minutes just looking at family pictures on the walls

Dear Family,

Looking forward to seeing you at the reunion in a couple of days. We haven't been camping since Bear Lake family reunion in 2005. Guess we're due.

Last month I met up with Emily & John and family in Seattle, where we joined Ammon and Angela and kids and had a fun few days together...Pikes Place Market, Space Needle, taking a city tour riding the Ducks (which is very cool driving on the road and then into the water without ever getting out of the vehicle), ferry to Port Townsend, enjoying the island, spending the night in a nice condo at Discovery Bay, seeing the Locks where boats go from the lake to the ocean and vice versa (also where the salmon and other fish spawn), enjoying crab and freshly made donuts at the market. Thanks Ammon & Ang for being our tour guides.

Finn and Harper had the chicken pox but are healed up now. I enjoy skyping with them every week -- Finn likes me to read him stories, although we don't ever quite finish one...and he's been talking quite a bit and even called me on the phone the other day, by himself.

Ammon got a new job and is elated -- we're all happy about that. His official title is International Movie Programmer. He works at the Xbox Entertainment Dept. at Microsoft....he can tell you more about it.

Work has been generally slow, although yesterday was a very hectic day -- getting ready for trial is a pain.

We've had a lot of plums and apricots this year, we got about half, the squirrels got the other half, and if there's a third half, the wind blew the rest to the ground.

Hey Lindgrens,

Seems like the big news is coming up this week. Looking forward to reunion. Check my blog for graduation pictures of James. He is Brigham Young in the Stake Play for Pioneer Days and will miss our reunion. The play is about Joseph Smith…kind of like a pageant, held in the social hall theater in Snowflake. We’re enjoying our warm summer. We really enjoyed having the Tomlinson family here in June. Bryan had a great week at Geronimo scout camp, Hyrum did local EFY and recently returned from a week in St. George at soccer camp.

And now for my big announcement…I finished what I started at BYU! I graduate August 12th with a Bachelor of General Studies (Family History Emphasis). I will not be walking however, as school starts here August 11th and I’m not going to pull the kids out of their first week at school. Anyway…feels good.

Hey Lingo readers!

Welp there's been a ton of stuff happening around the Seattle parts since the last time, so I might as well jump right into things. For starters, near the end of May, I had all these weird neck problems and bumps forming on my head and couldn't tell what was going on. So I went to the Emergency Room and after a few days and a number of doctor visits, the truth came out: I had Shingles. Awesome. Since it's Chicken Pox for adults and highly contagious to those who had never had chicken pox, I then gave the Pox to both Finn and Harper. Even more awesome. But it turned out to be relatively mild for both of them, so it could have been a lot worse.

Before the Shingles I had 2 sessions of Root Canal fun on my back upper molar as the Root Canal I had done on it years before decided to stop working. Two long sessions of drilling and clearing out an infection was pretty fun, so much so that I pretty much got Shingles because of it. I had a third (and final!) Root Canal session last week... and now I just have a huge hole in my mouth until I get a crown. Goood times.

My last day at work (where I'd worked at for over 5 years) was on June 30th. It was a glorious day... mostly because I hated working there for about the last 2 years, and because I recently just got hired somewhere else, and was able to start with only a few days of 'unemployment.' I now work at Microsoft in their Zune Marketplace as a Movie Programmer for Zune / Xbox Live for people in Australia and New Zealand. It's a pretty awesome job so far, and pretty much the coolest thing I've ever had the chance to do... and get paid for it. The easiest way to put it is that it's like running my own electronic video store. More or less...

In the beginning of June the Andersons and my mom came to Seattle for a visit--we had a ton of fun. Finn had fun playing with kids his age, and we showed off the town, hitting up the Pike's Place Market and even rode the Duck's, which was an actual first for Angela and I. It was a great visit all around, and since I had Shingles at the time, I was able to take off work and be around for the whole time they were here, which was really great.

Harper is now 6 months old. She has 2 teeth and can crawl, roll over, and yell a lot. I think she's actually 'talking' but really it's just yelling. Time to baby proof the house again! Finn has been enjoying our recent spat of Hot weather and even had the chance to ride a giant Thomas the Train which came through town late last week. He loves Thomas the Train, so he had a lot of fun.

I think that's about it. It's been a crazy past couple of months and all I really want to happen is for things to slow down and become uneventful for a while. I guess that will have to happen after Angela is laid off in September. Sigh. Oh well.

Looking forward to hearing all of your stories, and sorry we won't be able to make this year's reunion--ya'll better take a lot of pictures!

Hello Family,

We're excited for two upcoming family reunions. Lindgren and Tomlinson Families. (Lynnette is not too excited about the 'camping' part of them though). However we have some comforts: air mattress, heater, flush facilities, shower, pool, and INTERNET. (Haven't figured out how to smuggle the cats along).

Lynnette's sister has been visiting from Arizona. Lynnette loves to have her sister here. (They stay up talking till all hours of night. Hmmm just like Facebook).

Hmmm what's new with us... Lynnette is endeavoring into Jewelry parties (Jewels by Park Lane) with a Tomlinson cousin. James is gearing up for some "fun" and 'stress relief'... he will be punching holes into some sheet rock, taking out a wall. We are re-designing our house. (First phase is building shelves into loft walls. 2nd phase hopefully will be a spiral staircase to the loft and 3rd phase hopefully is plumbing for a washer/dryer and a larger tub, hopefully jetted). After that Lynnette has grand ideas of remodeling the kitchen for more space... ahh but alas money takes time to accumulate.

We like our condo (thus the remodel); however the downside is smoking neighbors... at times, the smoke permeates our house.

A benefit to the shelving project is that we gain space by clearing out items meant for yard-sale and thrift-stores.

Lynnette is looking forward to a trip to Chicago at July end and we're going to Los Angeles in November.

Hello Lindgrens!

Samuel Packard Lindgren was born on June 19th weighing 8 lb. 12 oz and he was 22.5 inches in length.
We are so happy to have a healthy little baby boy and a recovering Mother. We are settling in to being new parents, learning to adapt our life to our new little guy. I guess everyone thinks their baby is cute, but we're sure ours really is. He has a lot of blond hair and is really good. He's taking it easy on us first time parents; he only seems to cry when he has a reason. Two cool tricks about our son...#1. He purses his lips and stares (so cute). #2. He grabs things when you are not looking... like books or stuffed animals. We already know he is advanced.

Thanks so much to everyone for your sweet calls, thoughts, prayers, gifts and other considerations.

Dear Lindgren Family,

I have been keeping busy the past two months getting Marcus ready for his mission. It has been an enjoyable and exciting time as we did things together and got them “checked off the list.” Marcus had also spent a lot of time trying to figure out what to keep and pack away in his room while he’s gone for two years, and what to throw away. He was able to slip in some fun times with his friends and family, seeing a few new movies, and just “hanging out.” He gave an awesome talk at the Stake Priesthood Meeting in May and again at his “farewell” the last Sunday of June. The evening of his setting-apart was a wonderful time with the family and of strengthening our testimonies. It felt fast and furious at the airport as we helped him check in his luggage and get his boarding pass, and then he was off! We were very happy to get the e-mail from the Preston MTC a day and a half later saying that he had arrived safely. We know he will be a great missionary. We feel very blessed with good children who desire to serve the Lord.

We love getting Penny’s letters as she tells us of her investigators, mission experiences, and bears her testimony. Most recently she and her companion were able to see one of their investigators baptized and then he baptized his granddaughter.

I was happy to find out about Jodie’s son’s mission call, even if it was through “Facebook.” Congratulations Rick on your first missionary grandson.

As soon as Ariane was through with school, we went to the Grand Canyon for our family’s summer vacation this year. We also saw some other sites like dinosaur tracks, an old volcano, and some Indian ruins. But the highlight of the trip was our time spent with Jim and Priscilla and their family at their home, and to go and be with them to the Snowflake Temple.

The last week of June, Ariane went to stake youth conference held at Brighton Meadows. The theme was “Walk With Christ” where the youth had an exceptionally spiritually strengthening experience for three days as they were taught about the Savior. I was privileged to be in the adult choir as part of a special presentation one night. It was awesome!!! The stake leaders really went all out to make it a spiritual "feast” for the youth. Speaking of Brighton Meadows, do any of you remember that place? It is owned by Brighton Stake and the place where we had the 1990 Doelling family reunion. I remember because Marcus was a three month old at the time. So while I was there 1 ½ weeks ago, I pointed out the pine trees to Ariane that Dad, Nicole, and Heidi helped plant earlier that year (or was it the year before?). Were there others that helped plant those trees? You can imagine that they are very tall now and Dad would be pleased to see the beauty they have added to the campsite. One of the service projects the youth did during this years youth conference was to plant more pine trees there.

That same last week of June, Becky went as a leader to her ward’s YW camp, so we got to have Katherine, David, and Dorothea stay at our house. We had a fun time with them.

We’ve also been helping Heather move into her new home in Pleasant Grove and help her with some repairs, yard work, and cleaning projects. She’s happy to have all her stuff under one roof, but can’t believe the stuff she has accumulated over the years!

My newest callings in our ward are ward organist and ward choir leader. Even though I play piano, these new callings require some new skills I’m going to have to learn. Life is full of new learning experiences and I am thankful for them, as they help enrich my life and give me feelings of deeper fulfillment.

We love you and look forward to reading your Lingo letters, but more especially to visiting with those of you coming to the Lindgren Reunion this week.
