Becky

Hello family!

Our prolonged silence may have led you to think we have fallen off the face of the earth. Contrary to popular belief, we are still here. Time gets away from us and we realize we've missed another Lingo.

Short Version: Life is good. We are busy and love (most of) it.

Long Version:

Jason continues to slog through full-time work and part-time graduate school. He enjoys his teachers and classmates and the many extracurricular activities he is involved in. But that light at the end of the tunnel is beckoning! He is currently serving as the Beta Alpha Psi Reporting Secretary. BAP is a service-based honors society for Accounting students. He has recently been spending some Tuesday nights and Saturday mornings doing volunteer income tax preparation at the University. He'll be going to Colorado at the end of the month for a BAP Regional Meeting.

Katherine is our other hard working student. She has more homework than Jason some nights! She gets on the bus everyday with smile and comes home with a bigger smile. In her free time you can usually find her ensconced on the luvsac with a stack of books. She reads everything she can get her hands on; I've had to tell her to ask me before she reads our TIME magazine, so I can check the content.

David loves having some time to himself while Katherine is at school. He is now well-adjusted to living without a big sister to tell him exactly what to play and what to say. They still play well together when she is home, thankfully. When Katherine isn't reading, that is. He is beginning to read, loves to help with the dishes and pick up the food and toys that Dorothea throws.

Dorothea is 13 months, has two teeth and will throw a book at you and crawl into your lap if you sit on the floor. She mostly likes to turn the pages and won't listen if there are more than two words per page. She is thinking about walking, but seems to figure crawling works well enough, so why bother?

Becky is loving the life of a "young mother." She volunteers twice a month or more in Katherine's classroom, where all the kids call her "Miss Becky." This week was nutrition week and Katherine's teacher asked her to give a presentation about bread. Two weeks of planning, seven batches of bread and three jars of flour and wheat for visual aids= recipe requests and lots of hugs from five-year-olds. She has a new found appreciation for the vast amount of work that goes into teaching. She is enjoying her calling as Laurel's Advisor and feels her position gives her inside information on all the best babysitters in the neighborhood.
