Dear Family,
Happy 2009! Here is George and Finn enjoying a nap.
We enjoyed spending Thanksgiving in Utah...other than the flu bug going around. It was nice seeing many of you.
We had a much smaller Christmas party this year at the office – no spouses, and held at the office. We still had a lot of fun, and really didn’t miss the extravaganza part of dressing up. It was much more casual. The day after Christmas we drove to Seattle, hitting the aftermath of their big snowstorm. Quite a hazard for Seattle when they don’t normally get snow, so are not prepared for it. Garbage wasn’t picked up for over three weeks because the trucks couldn’t drive on the street due to the snow. We enjoyed a few days with Ammon, Angela and Finn and then all went to Pacific Beach, just north of Ocean Shores on the Washington coast, where we spent New Year’s with Angela’s side of the family. We played games and looked in the shops. And we went bowling – very different than Wii bowling. I could definitely feel the 10-pound weight of the ball! The morning we left there was ice and snow everywhere! Can you imagine, snow on the coast!! It didn’t get above freezing until we were well into Oregon.
While in Oregon we stopped by our property (which hasn’t sold yet) and dug up two small one and three foot fir trees that we had planted there about six years ago – these will be our “four states” trees as they have lived in Utah, California, Oregon, and soon Idaho. They’re sentimental being that they are the seedlings from trees Dad grew in Utah. Their growth has been stunted as they didn’t get much sun living in Oregon being shaded by other trees most of their life.
I’m still working and happy about that – the firm is still standing and I have gone back to working full time.
We’re looking forward to seeing how our new President Obama will change the country for the better, and get us back to a much better economy.
Love, Jennifer & Steve
